Indian Army organizes cleanliness drive in Ahagam village in south Kashmir

44 Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army on Saturday organized a cleanliness drive in Ahagam village of Pulwama district.

The Indian Army on Saturday organized a cleanliness drive in Ahagam village of southern Kashmir valley’s Pulwama district.

The drive was organized under Swachh Bharat Mission, a country-wide campaign initiated by the Government of India in 2014 to eliminate open defecation and improve solid waste management.

The Army’s 44 Rastriya Rifles also held a Medical Camp in the area.

“In an effort to spread awareness regarding the importance of health, hygiene and sanitation among the locals, 44RR took an initiative and successfully encouraged the locals to participate in the cleanliness drive with the aim of Swachh Bharat Mission to contribute to a clean India Mission,” a statement from the Army unit said.

It added, “Senior citizens appreciated the Army’s move about such initiatives.”
