Sharda University setting new benchmarks in academics during COVID era

The Covid-19 era has thrown open new challenges for educational institutions in the form of online education. With universities closed, the challenge has been to make students shift from face-to-face interaction mode to 100% online learning. Sharda University is among the select institutions of higher learning in the country which has seamlessly shifted to online learning mode. It’s no wonder that Sharda University has scored 150/150 points in all parameters and received QS I∙GAUGE E-Learning Excellence for Academic Digitisation (E-LEAD) certification. Sharda University’s focus on academics has been well recognised by national and international rating agencies. To highlight a few; Sharda University has been rated by the very prestigious NIRF (The National Institutional Ranking Framework), accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) and recently awarded with Gold standard by the globally renowned QS I-Gauge 2020.

The University has 1200+ Sharda group faculty with global experience sourced from renowned universities of USA, UK, Canada, Greece, Singapore, Japan, Russian Federation, among others. The faculty has to its credit 1400+ Scopus Journals & Publications including a number of funded research projects and consultancy assignments. The faculty has also filled 41 patents out of which 33 have been already approved.

Dr. Nilisha Pokhrel, B.Tech. (Biotechnology) Batch 2011-15, Postdoctoral Fellow, New England Biolabs, US has been highly appreciative of the big role Sharda faculty has played in her US dream. According to Nilisha, “The best part of Sharda faculty is that they helped me a lot. Whenever I needed any help regarding studies or letters of recommendation, they always helped me. I enjoyed participating in festivals like Chorus and various international events that were organised.”

To support its research and innovation endeavour, Sharda University has tie-ups with leading government institutes & labs including DRDO, MSME, DST, DBT, INSA and USAID among others. 36 Major Funded Research Projects worth Rs.10 crores are running in the University in areas of engineering, science and technology, business, humanity, medical and allied health science. In addition, there are seven centres for Materials Research, Environmental Research, Protein Research, Plant Virology Research, Agricultural Research and Polymer Research.

Sharda University’s Design and Innovation in Emerging Technology (DIET) Centre is a partner of the National Productivity Council (NPC) to establish a centre of excellence on Industry 4.0 and Finance 4.0. It is giving support for curriculum 4.0 by connecting with more than 100 industries in NCR to facilitate students for industry visit, industry projects, design and 4Ms (Man, Machine, Money and Manufacture) for the smart industry towards 4.0. and smart finance 4.0 for students of the University.  Take a virtual tour of the university here.

Besides giving upto 100 % scholarship and seed money, Sharda Launchpad Federation will nurture the innovative idea to success.

To give students a global exposure, Sharda has tie-ups with 250+ universities and institutions across the globe. This gives students a chance to go on student exchange, pursue a semester abroad or get credit transfer. Sharda also offers students a unique opportunity to pursue a semester abroad at zero tuition fees at top ranked foreign universities. Students are charged absolutely nothing and gain a lot by way of global exposure to educational practice. This year, Sharda University is also giving students the convenience of migration upto 5th semester from any recognised university of India and abroad.

Mr. Tshonde Joel, BBA, Summer Programme student; among the students from 85+ countries who have experienced Sharda has benefitted a lot from Sharda’s tie-ups with leading global universities. “As a part of our curriculum, we were offered an opportunity for Summer programme & internship at Ural Federal University, Russia where we had the opportunity to understand the aspects of International Business strategies in the European market.

Placements, both for final jobs and Summer Internships are an integral part of Sharda’s annual calendar of activities. Leading companies from all sectors such as TCS, Cognizant, Amazon, HCL, Dell, Wipro, NTT Data, ITC, Bosch, PepsiCo, MRF, Audi, MuSigma, Steria, Mphasis, American Express, Citi Bank, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank and several others, come to Sharda to recruit the students. Over the years, the University has achieved over 80% placement record with highest package of Rs. 78 lacs (Rs.17.75 lacs in 2020).
