Bajrangi Bhaijaan to have a sequel; And no, Kabir Khan is not directing the flick

Salman Khan announces sequel to Bajrangi Bhaijaan, but Kabir Khan is not keen on helming the project

Over the past few years, movies with Salman Khan in the lead have come out fairly good if you go by the number of releases. But not all of them have been applauded by the masses and critics alike. If there is one flick that had found some laurels being showered on it, it is undoubtedly Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

The film had been a major success and also got some thumbs up from serious film goers and critics alike. The theme was flawless, and the making was extremely entertaining. A lion’s share of the film’s success is due to its maker Kabir Khan, who created a watchable film with Salman in the lead role.

Salman too knows this very well. And that must be why the actor has been looking so keen on making a sequel to the film. The grapevine had some talk of a sequel for Bajrangi Bhaijaan loading some time ago, but not much was heard of such a plan after that.

Salman excites fans with Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 news

Now at a pre-release event organised for SS Rajamouli’s RRR, Salman went ahead an announced a sequel for Bajrangi Bhaijaan. To be called Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2, the sequel announcement has all in it to impart the thrills to film enthusiasts across the country.

Film freaks who thoroughly enjoyed the first iteration cannot be blamed to be naïve for expecting a much bigger entertainer when the sequel comes out.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan was released in 2015, and became a mega hit at the box office. It even set a record of being among the

highest-grosser in Bollywood history. While it pocketed more than Rs 300 crore in India, on a global scale the revenues stood at over Rs 900 crore. In the process, Bajrangi Bhaijaan also became the second largest revenue earner in Bollywood after Aamir Khan’s Dangal.

Kabir Khan isn’t keen on directing the sequel

The pre-release event of RRR was organised in Mumbai on Sunday and the event was graced by celebrities of the likes of SS Rajamouli, Karan Johar, Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, and Shriya Saran.  Salman arrived at the event much to the excitement of fans and announced that Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 would be made.

Salman’s announcement was timely as he said the sequel will be written by KV Vijayendra Prasad, the renowned script writer who had also penned Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

But then the spoiler came too soon. Though Salman Khan fans are already celebrating the announcement of a Bajrangi Bhaijaan sequel, the maker Kabir Khan has made it clear that he will be directing the second part.  Critical acclaim for the film was mainly due to Kabir Khan’s direction, and critics may not be keen on a Bajrangi Bhajiaan 2 minus Kabir Khan, for sure. For Kabir, the story is over and a second part is not anywhere in his thoughts.

We will have to wait to know who would helm the sequel. Whatever said, we would not want Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 to be a typical Salman masala.
