Cruelty in the name of celebration: Pawan Kalyan fans celebrate Bheemla Nayak by sacrificing a goat

Telugu film star Pawan Kalyan’s new film ‘Bheemla Nayak’ has been attracting a large number of fans in theatres at the moment, but the actor’s fans have in a frenzy of celebration brought a mega amount of shame to him and the film’s producers.
Pawan Kalyan’s fans across Andhra Pradesh are an excite lot as their screen icon has returned to cinema screens with his latest flick. And a group of them couldn’t resist their excitement and went to the extent of sacrificing the goat to celebrate the movie release.
The group of young men, who are also diehard fans of Pawan Kalyan, are now in major trouble. With animal rights group People for Ethical Treatment of Animal (PETA) India taking offence to the mode of celebration the young men resorted to, senior police officials in Chittoor district have register a first information report (FIR) against them.
Pawan Kalyan fans indulge in cruel act
The unfortunate event happened when a group of young fans of Pawan Kalyan brought a goat to the CSN movie theatre at Bodumalluvaripalle in Chittoor, where Bheemla Nayak had released. They all went into celebration mode and beheaded the goat with a sword. Media reports said the whole episode was also shot on video, with many posing with the goat before it was slaughtered in celebration. The goat was beheaded with everyone who had assembled in front of the cinema house looking on. A main in the crowd is also seen in the video as coming forward and collecting the goat’s blood in his hands and smearing it all over the film’s poster.
An act that deserves the maximum punishment was what had happened in the name of celebration. The state police have registered the FIR under Section 6 of the Andhra Pradesh Animals and Birds Sacrifice Prohibition Act, 1950, Sections 34 and 429 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, Section 25(1)(A) of the Arms Act, 1959, and Section 11(1)(a) of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, 1960.
PETA applauds police FIR against cruel youth
PETA, while expressing pain over the incident, lauded the police for taking steps to send the message that cruelty to animals will not be tolerated.
PETA India has also reminded the people that Section 5(b) of the Andhra Pradesh Animals and Birds Sacrifices Prohibition Act, 1950, clearly states that no person shall knowingly allow any sacrifice to be performed at any place that is in their possession or under their control. It needs to be noted that the Supreme Court had earlier ruled that animals can be slaughtered only in officially licensed slaughterhouses and that municipal authorities must ensure compliance with this ruling.
What happened in the name of celebrating an actor and his film comes across as an extreme act of cruelty! Let’s hope that the law enforcement would make sure that the cruel act would not go unpunished.
