Four LeT militants killed; Three Army Men Injured in Pulwama encounter

Security forces today gunned down four Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists in an encounter in Lassipora area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

According to sources, the security forces were tipped off about the presence of LeT militants in the area. The security forces comprising 55 Rashtriya Rifle, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a search operation in Lassipora village in the early hours.

A senior police official said that as the security cordon tightened, the hiding terrorists started indiscriminate firing, triggering an encounter in which four terrorists were killed.

During the gunfight four militants belonging to LeT were reported to be killed. The encounter also left three army men injured who have been shifted to an army hospital for treatment.

“Though four terrorists have been neutralised, the area has been cordoned off and a search operation is still underway as three more terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area,” said the police official.

The police official said that the forces have recovered weapons and warlike stores from the victims including two AK rifles, one SLR and a pistol.

As per the police, the identity of the slain LeT militants is yet to be ascertained.
