Government keen to regularize Health sector contract staff: Pramod Sawant

These people would be given precedence if and when opportunities in the health sector arise, he said.

NEW DELHI Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant on Friday said that his government will look into the possibilities of regularizing contractual healthcare employees who have worked for the state’s health department over the last year and a half during the pandemic of COVID-19.

These people would be given precedence if and when opportunities in the health sector arise, he said.

“Government will give preference for regularisation to Health sector contract staff who have worked during this pandemic,” a tweet posted by the Chief Minister’s Office quoted Mr. Pramod Sawant.

Sawant stated that he has addressed the issue of integrating these contract employees with health minister Vishwajit Pane, but added that he “cannot offer false assurances of regularising their services.”

“We’ll explore what we can do to make government services more accessible to them. We will give precedence to individuals who worked during the pandemic and their services would be continued,” the chief minister remarked.

The state administration has also taken up the matter of Ayush physicians’ pay also, according to the chief minister.

“They are working on a meager pay, and the government will address this issue at the earliest,” he assured.
