Pinarayi Vijayan also served in the government of Kerala as Minister of Electric Power and Co-operatives from 1996 to 1998

Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday took oath as the Chief Minister of Kerala for the second term.

The CM took to Twitter and announced, “Took the oaths of office and secrecy, as the Chief Minister of Kerala.” He went on to say, “Together, let us realize a people’s alternative, and build a Nava Keralam!”

It is worthwhile to mention that Pinarayi Vijayan has taken over as the Chief Minister of Kerala, for a second consecutive term after serving since 25 May 2016.

Earlier in the day, the longest-serving secretary of the Kerala State Committee of the CPI(M) paid his respects to the martyrs of Punnapra and Vayalar.

While tweeting about his visit, he said, “Paid homage to the memory of our martyrs of Punnapra and Vayalar. Their glorious sacrifice reshaped Kerala’s history. Today, Kerala’s history is being reshaped for the better, once again.”

Pinarayi Vijayan is a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He also served in the government of Kerala as Minister of Electric Power and Co-operatives from 1996 to 1998.

Vijayan won a seat in the May 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly election as the CPI(M) candidate for Dharmadom constituency and was selected as the leader of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and became the 12th Chief Minister of Kerala.

He is the first chief minister from Kerala to be re-elected after completing a full term (five years) in office.
