Seven injured in grenade attack in South Kashmir

Srinagar, January 31, 2019 —

The attack on the security forces at Sherbagh Chowk left three women and two CRPF jawans injured say police.

Two CRPF jawans and five civilians were injured in a grenade explosion in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday morning.

According to the police, militants hurled a grenade on the security forces at Sherbagh Chowk on Thursday morning.

“The explosion resulted in injuries to five persons, including three women, and two CRPF jawans,” the police said.

The injured were identified as Rehana Begum, Sobiya Jan, Naza Begum, all three residents of Anchidora; Irfan Dar, a resident of Lal Chowk Anantnag and Mohd Hussain, a resident of Sofipora.

Two injured CRPF jawans were identified as Narender Kumar and Vishal Patel of 96 Battalion. “All were shifted to the hospital for the treatment of their injuries,” said the police.

The police said reinforcements were rushed to the area and a case was registered to nab the attackers.
