The end of an era – Legendary Singer Sardool Sikander passes away at 60

Sardool Sikander has given the Punjabi music industry masterpieces and more than life songs like Ek Charkha, Sanu Tol Na, among others.

One of Punjab’s most revered versatile singer Sardool Sikander succumbed to COVID-19 in Chandigarh today. He has been battling the coronavirus since last December and was hospitalised in a Mohali hospital on January 19.

The legendary singer showed signs of recovery after being in a life-threatening situation in January. The singer passed away in hospital. He is survived by his wife, famous Punjabi singer and actress Amar Noori and two sons.

The news of his death shocked the complete fraternity. Celebrities from the Punjabi industry as well as Bollywood have joined all other fans in expressing their grief. Sardool Sikander is remembered as a singer and mentor by some, however, there are people who remember him as a mystic, a Sufi who sang his heart out and embraced music as life.

Today will mark the end of an era. Sardool Sikandar has given the Punjabi music industry masterpieces and more than life songs like Ek Charkha, Sanu Tol Na, Sadeyan Paran To, Ajj Nachna, Aaja Mahi Der Na Laa Tu, among others. He also gave his voice to several albums and songs of revolution like Pagdhi Sambhal Jatta.
