Two CRPF men killed as militants target CRPF men in Srinagar

Four CRPF troopers were injured in the attack, of which two died on the way to the hospital

In a hit-and-run attack by militants in Lawaypora, on the outskirts of Kashmir’s capital city Srinagar, two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers were killed and two others were wounded on Thursday.

According to sources, alleged militants fired indiscriminately at the CRPF group stationed in the Lawaypora area on Thursday afternoon.

Four CRPF troopers were injured in the attack, two of whom died on the way to the hospital and two more are being treated at the SMHS Hospital in Srinagar.

According to sources, two E-79 Coy CRPF men were killed in the assault.

In the meantime, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar announced that a huge manhunt has been conducted in the city to find the perpetrators.

Speaking to media, PRO CRPF, OP Tiwari said, “ASI GD Manga Ram of ECO 73 Battalion’s Road Opening Party (ROP) has been killed, while three other injured CRPF personnel have been shifted to 92 Base Army Hospital in Srinagar for treatment.”

“Driver of the vehicle which was attacked upon succumbed to the injuries,” OPS Tiwari, a spokesman of CRPF, says. He identified the driver as Ashok Kumar, a resident of Chandigarh. Earlier, an ASI of the 73 battalion, identified as GD Manga Ram Dev Barman, was killed in the attack.
