Will make world-class drainage system in Delhi, says CM Arvind Kejriwal

CM Arvind Kejriwal said the best system like Minto Road will be built at other points of Delhi as well

Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal on Monday promised to make a world-class drainage system in the Union Territory.

The chief minister was addressing a meeting with officials from various departments, concerning Master Plan 2041.

In view of the Master Plan-2041, the suggestions given by the Delhi Government regarding the development of Delhi were discussed in detail in the meeting.

Among the various departments that took part in the review meeting regarding the drainage system of Delhi included PWD, MCD, DJB I&FC. The meeting was, however, held under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.

In view of the monsoon, there was a detailed discussion regarding better drainage of water in Delhi.

“The best system like Minto Road will be built at other points of Delhi as well,” CM Kejriwal promised.

He further added that there will be regular cleaning of drains and sewers. “Will make world-class drainage system in Delhi,” Kejriwal said.

According to experts, the Delhi government needs to ensure there are no encroachments on drains, sewage is routed through separate sewage channels, dumping of construction, and demolition debris is stopped.

Effective de-silting and designing and building new stormwater drain in such a way so that existing run-off estimates and architecture are taken into account will prove very helpful in the endeavor.

Tree cover along highways can help. They can slow the way rain water falls on the ground and open ground can then be recharged with it, as per them.
