Import of workers to spread lies in UP? Akhilesh charges could leave BJP irked

The SP chief alleges that BJP has imported workers from Gujarat to spread lies and hate in UP!

Is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bringing party workers from Gujarat to spread hate in UP? The allegation by Akhilesh Yadav, if true, could be a matter of concern. As Uttar Pradesh is heading for the Assembly polls, its battle royale building in the state. And the sudden charges levelled by the Samajwadi Party chief against the ruling party come across as something the SP supremo wants to prove.

It isn’t known whether the Election Commission has taken note of the allegation, but it looks like Yadav is bent on bringing to light a conspiracy. The Bharatiya Janata Party has lost some credibility of late, owing to a sizable number of legislators switching allegiance to the Samajwadi Party just ahead of the elections. They included a clutch of ministers too, and this has shaken the BJP.

BJP workers from Gujarat spreading hate, alleges Yadav

The Samajwadi Party president accusing the BJP of “importing workers from Gujarat” could come as a blow to the ruling party, if it is proved true. Looking at it from a BJP point of view, there aren’t chances of the party resorting to such a foolish move at a time when the party’s stock is running low.

What has spurred Akhilesh Yadav to level such allegations is a question that remains to be answered, Election campaigns are avenues when leaders make such allegations to taint rival outfits. But the charges are that the BJP workers from Gujarat (which is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s motherland) to spread rumours and hatred in UP.

In case it is proven that BJP workers from Gujarat are currently in UP, the administration would have to clarify why they are in UP at a time when Covid restrictions are in full swing. Yadav’s call to the Election Commission to send back these workers come at a time when the poll panel has slammed restrictions on mass rallies and crowding in view with the rising Covid graph.

Akhilesh Yadav has also gone on record saying that he will be able to release photographs to prove his stance that Gujarat people are spreading hate and lies in UP.

Will Yadav be able to prove charges?

The allegations are serious because Yadav says that the Gujarat workers of the BJP are at work in UP and are going around spreading rumours and hatred. When such charges are levelled against it, the BJP leaders are expected to come up with a denial or a clarification. But they are yet to speak.

All that Yadav wants from the EC is that all workers who have arrived – or imported as he calls it – from other states need to be sent back, so that a free and fair election process is ensured.

The truth is yet to come out. It will depend on how the poll panel would see the allegations.
