With ‘ghor parivarvadis’ rant, PM Modi dons politician garb to full effect in UP

Modispeak in Varanasi showcases a politician striving to ensure a win for his party yet again in UP

Vocal for Local. That is the slogan that is being brandished by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as he goes about in his desperate bid to ensure a landslide win in Uttar Pradesh. The state is all set to vote in the last phase of its Assembly election very soon, and the Prime Minister is peddling his government’s prestigious schemes to make sure the UP voter stands by him and his party.

It is in this context the shouting aloud of the Vocal for Local campaign is seen as a last ditch effort to ensure that the maximum number votes would fall into the BJP kitty.  Listening to Modispeak at the Varanasi rallies would bring to mind the concerted effort of a politician who is bent on ensuring a win for his party yet again in UP.

Calling rivals by names is one pastime that the Prime Minister has indulged in during the course of this election season. The latest is that he has termed the Samajwadi Party as “ghor parivarvadis”.  Speaking at one of the Varanasi rallies he went on to say that the “ghor parivarvadis” are agitated by the Union government’s ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign.

PM Modi and his Vocal for Local push

Elaborating on that, PM Modi said that though yoga and Ayurveda have gained a lot of prominence across the whole world, the ghor parivarvadis tend to avoid taking the name of yoga. He did not leave the Congress alone either, and spoke about the manner in which the grand old party had abandoned Khadi, which once upon a time used to be the party’s identity.

Stressing on Vocal for Local, he also questioned the BJP rivals for not buying things made in India. He said the rival parties have been averse about using the things that are made in India or promoting the things made in the country. And then addressing the voters of UP, he came up with a punch dialogue, which went thus: “If they were your friends, wouldn’t they talk about selling what you made?”

That meant that the rival parties like Samajwadi Party and the Indian National Congress were alienating the made in India stuff and thereby alienating the people of the state.

Going all against ‘parivarvadis’

Samajwadi Party was targeted more this time, when Modi said that the people of Uttar Pradesh do not want ‘Parivarvadis’. He went on with his trade against the rivals saying that they were a “blind opposition”, and they indulged in “continuous opposition”, and they have been doing so out of “acute frustration”.  And then he tried to hold the poor close to him saying that the world is amazed at what his government has been doing for the poor and that the poor are happy.

Prime Minister Modi’s role as a senior BJP politician has been in full show in Uttar Pradesh. But then, the Samajwadi Party and the Congress are not in a mood to give up. We will get to know all about it when the state goes into voting mode for the last phase in the current poll season.
