Kashmiri student K Aysir Rashid arrested for disturbing WhatsApp comment on Pulwama attack

The student K Aysir Rashid at the Rash Behari Bose Subharti University has been asked not to enter the campus till further orders

Dehradun, February 18, 2019 –

Police have arrested the medical student from Kashmir for allegedly making disturbing comments on social media in the wake of the Pulwama Attack.

An FIR was registered on the complaint alleging that the student K Aysir Rashid made insulting comments on the CRPF personnel who were killed in the terror attack in the Pulwama, the police said.

The complaint alleged that the accused had attempted to provoke communal tension by defamatory comments on Facebook and WhatsApp.

The case was registered under various sections of the IPC in Prem Nagar police station and Rashid was arrested on Saturday.

The Kashmiri student, pursuing a medical course from a private university in Dehradun, was suspended by the university administration for making anti-national comments on WhatsApp. After the Pulwama attack, the student made a shocking post on his WhatsApp claiming, “Happy today, aaj to chicken dinner ho gaya.”

Rash Behari Bose Subharti University Registrar suspended K Aysir Rashid for his remark. The university also ordered to form an inquiry committee to look into the controversy and also asked the student to send his clarification on the controversial comment.  Rashid is a first-year student of Bachelor of Medical Radio Diagnosis and Imaging Technology course at the Rash Behari Bose Subharti University, which has asked him not to enter the campus until further orders.

After posting the comment on WhatsApp post, K Aysir Rashid was heavily tolled on social media, with most using abusive language. Many social organizations and groups reached the Rash Behari Bose Subharti University in Dehradun on Friday and vandalized the building. They expressed their anger.

After making the controversial post and facing the anger of the web surfers, K Aysir Rashid made an apology on his Facebook page by terming his comment silly, which he made by mistake.
