Modi, his ‘minions’ have ceded thousands of km of Indian land to China: Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi posted the comments in a tweet, while sharing a news report concerning the 12th round of Indo-China military talks.

NEW DELHI — Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ‘minions’ of ceding thousands of kilometres of Indian land to China.

Rahul Gandhi posted the comments in a tweet, while sharing a news report concerning the 12th round of Indo-China military talks.

“Mr Modi and his minions have ceded thousands of km of Indian land to China. When exactly are we getting it back?” the Congress leader asked.

Mr Rahul later posted the same comments in a tweet, in Hindi language.

On Saturday, the 12th round of military negotiations between India and China ended without a “breakthrough,” despite rising security concerns regarding the Chinese army’s hesitancy in disengaging from the remaining friction spots in Ladakh.

China committed to withdraw from Hot Springs and Gogra in July of last year, but has since broken its word.

Since May of last year, India and China have been embroiled in a border stalemate at various places in Ladakh, with the Chinese claiming over 1,000 square kilometers of India-claimed land.

On the strategically important Depsang Plains, the Chinese army is believed to be entrenched 18 kilometres inside India’s declared borders. Since the border stalemate began, it has denied the Indian Army access to five customary patrolling points: PPs 10, 11, 11A, 12, and 13.
