Telangana CM Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao to hold an all-party meeting on June 27

Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao said the meeting will take place at Pragati Bhavan to discuss the formulation of duty policies related to the “CM Dalit Empowerment” scheme

Telangana Chief Minister, Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, popularly known as KCR, has decided to hold an all-party meeting on June 27 (Sunday).

The meeting will take place at Pragati Bhavan to discuss the formulation of duty policies related to the “CM Dalit Empowerment” scheme to be implemented by the state government for the development of Dalits in the state.

The all-party meeting, which will be attended by Dalit MPs, will be attended by Dalit MPs, MLAs and MLAs from all parties in the state. They will be joined by floor leaders from the opposition parties including MIM, Congress and BJP. They will also receive official invitations in this connection.

The chief minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao has phoned and invited the state secretaries of the respective parties, Shri Chada Venkat Reddy and Shri Tammineni Veerabhadram, to send senior Dalit leaders from the CPI and CPI (M) parties to the meeting.

The CM Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao decided to invite other leaders of the state who are working for the betterment of Dalits as well.

The meeting, as per the chief minister, will discuss and decide on what steps the government should take to further achieve qualitative improvement in the lives of Dalits at the field level.

The Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao said that it was decided to hold this all-party meeting for the welfare and development of Dalits to sit down and discuss more thoroughly and finalize the modalities.

It is in place to mention here that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has ordered an immediate inquiry and asked the concerned authorities to take stringent action against the police personnel responsible as per the law, in the matter of the custodial death of a Dalit woman in Telangana.

“We will not pardon such incidents. The government will not keep quiet if anyone does harm to Dalits. There will be swift action on the matter. There should not be any delay in inquiring about the culprits of lockup death and taking stern action against them. If need be, dismiss them from the service,” the Chief Minister said on Friday.

As per the information available with NCSC, a Dalit woman, Mariamma, cook in a house, was arrested along with her son Uday Kiran on the complaint of theft filed by the owner and died in lock-up of Addagudur police station in Bhongir district due to alleged police torture.

Mariamma was beaten for four days at various places on her body, as per the reports.
