Instead of being happy, we have to be more vigilant now: Hemant Soren

Hemant Soren also said that the vaccine is completely safe and effective and people should keep faith in the efficacy of the vaccine

Chief Minister of Jharkhand and Executive President of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Hemant Soren on Wednesday asked people to be cautious and not to take the pandemic of COVID-19 lightly.

In a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle, the CM appealed to people to avoid reading such news stories which give the impression that the danger of COVID-19 has been averted.

“In the last one year, we have seen that when we have taken this pandemic lightly, it has caused devastation by coming back with double power. So instead of being happy, we have to be more vigilant now,” Hemant said in one of his tweets.

Hemant Soren went on to say, “With the support of all you Jharkhandis, we can check this pandemic from further spread.”

“Gradually, we have controlled the pandemic in urban areas, but now the fight is to save the rural areas from this pandemic. Therefore, we are now conducting door-to-door surveys and tests in rural areas, so that the infection can be quickly detected and controlled,” he informed in another tweet.

According to Hemant Soren, the government has started preparations to fight the third wave much earlier by taking the opinion of experts and all possible steps to reduce the risk of imminent danger.

“I know that all of you are facing a lot of trouble for increasing restrictions during Health Protection Week, but it is necessary for you, you – my loved ones, and the entire state,” he said, while adding, “Nevertheless, I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.”

Hemant Soren further said, “This is the time for endurance. Your patience and support will definitely make us victorious in this battle. Reminding you once again that does not come out of their homes without face masks. Also, the people of the state must go for the vaccination against COVID-19, which is given free of cost.”

Asking people to keep faith in the efficacy of the vaccine, he reiterated, “It is completely safe and effective.”

It is pertinent to mention here that Jharkhand on Tuesday reported 60 fresh COVID-19 fatalities, taking the death toll to 4,539, while 2,507 new cases pushed the tally to 3,18,009.

The state now has 33,524 active cases, while 2,79,946 patients have recovered from the infection, according to the health department’s bulletin.

The recovery rate among Coronavirus patients in the state now stands at 88.03 percent, better than the national average of 84.80 percent.
