A man from Kashmir valley’s Bandipora district has developed an ‘automatic ventilator’, requiring no attendant alongside the patient to keep pumping like the existing ones.
65-year-old Muhammad Ismail Mir, who earlier developed an automatic disinfectant spray which earned him appreciation from Harvard Medical School, has now successfully managed to prepare an automatic ventilator ready to be used in hospitals amid the growing cases of COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Ismail, the ventilator prepared by him needs no attendant as it will help the patient undergo treatment without requiring assistance from a health worker or an attendant to keep pumping the air and the device to sustain.
“Before this, I developed an automatic disinfectant device that can be installed at large gathering spots to ensure no infection is carried beyond since it sprays the disinfectant chemicals automatically,” he said.
Saying that he is making an attempt to contribute his bit towards the society in these trying times, Ismail reveals, “The best thing about this ventilator is that it can be operated with ease. Also, this light weight and compact ventilator functions on a very low voltage and requires no human intervention to keep it operational.”
Stressing on the need of ventilators in the fight against COVID-19, he says that his device is especially useful in view of high rate of contraction of Coronavirus. “The existing ventilators in hospitals require at least one caretaker to keep the equipment operational which is against the COVID protocol and poses a risk to the person. However, the ventilator I have developed needs no human interference as it operates automatically,” he says.
Ismail is hopeful to get his ventilator model approved while he says, “A team is also visiting who will check this model. Besides, they already appreciated me when I told them about the whole process.”
It is in place to mention here that Ismail has developed a number of other electronic models in the past as well. His efforts have been hugely appreciated, both by common people as well as by medical experts.
