Legendary Singer S P Balasubrahmanyam Passes away at 74

Celebrities and fans have been grieving the death of S P Balasubrahmanyam alike.

Singing legend S P Balasubrahmanyam passed away in a Chennai hospital today. He was undergoing treatment since past two months. Tributes have poured in from all spheres after S P Charan announced his death.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to twitter to say that the cultural world lost a gem. He grieved the loss by saying, “With the unfortunate demise of Shri SP Balasubrahmanyam, our cultural world is a lot poorer. A household name across India, his melodious voice and music enthralled audiences for decades. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”

The humble legend and gem of a person was an era in himself. He had sung over 40,000 songs in 16 languages and was a receipent of 6 national awards. He was also awarded the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan in his lifetime. The music industry has undoubtedly lost a jewel in the crown.
