Rahul Gandhi has been consistently accusing the BJP-led Central government of failing to deal with the pandemic due to its ‘mismanagement’
Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader and Member of Parliament on Thursday said that the Central government was hiding the actual numbers related to COVID-19 while accusing the Centre of hiding deaths due to ‘PM’s actions’ about COVID-19.
The Congress leader has been consistently accusing the BJP-led Central government of failing to deal with the pandemic due to its ‘mismanagement’.
On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi said, “‘Positivity’ is a PR stunt to hide the actual number of Corona deaths PM’s actions have caused.”
Rahul’s latest tweet on Thursday comes a day after tweeting that “numbers don’t lie… GOI (government of India) does,” citing a New York Times estimate of the number of Coronavirus deaths in India.
The comments of Rahul had prompted health minister Harsh Vardhan attack him in a tweet, saying: “Politics on dead bodies, Congress style! Vultures may be vanishing from trees but it appears their energy has been transferred into the vultures on the ground. Rahul Gandhi trusts New York more than Delhi. Learn politics over the dead from the vultures on the ground.”
Rahul Gandhi had earlier hit out at the RSS and its affiliates over the attempts to push ‘positivity’ amid the second wave of COVID-19, saying “The false assurance of positive thinking is a joke on health workers and families of those who have lost their loved ones, and people who are suffering due to lack of oxygen, hospitals and medicines. Burying one’s head in the sand is not positivity, it is a betrayal of our citizens.”
He was then referencing to a programme called ‘Positivity Unlimited,’ which is a series of online lectures organized by the ‘Covid Response Team,’ made up of RSS affiliates and civil society organizations.
“We will never know the true number of Covid-related deaths as the government has worked harder on suppressing this data than they did fighting the pandemic,” Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had also alleged on Wednesday.
COVID-19 fatalities have been allegedly under-reported in the country since the outbreak of the pandemic, the Congress party has maintained.
